Shipping Your New JDM
We offer a few different methods for shipping your new vehicle, have a look at the different options below to see what’s right for you.
Inland JDM Car Shipping Options
$1000 Auction to Nearest Port Directly
This is the most cost effective method and can save you about $500.
After we purchase your new vehicle from auction we will have it delivered from the auction house directly to the nearest port for shipment.
This method does not allow us to change any fluids, do after purchase inspection but you will still receive 15-25 HD photos of the car before it ships.
$1250 Auction to a Port With Fastest Ships
This is our most popular method and we are the first and only ones to offer it. It can save as much as an entire month of waiting! We created this method to get you your new car as fast as possible. We know it’s hard to wait!
After purchase from auction our logistics team will map out where the ships are moving the fastest and where cars have been shipping out the quickest. Once we have located the best port we will have the car delivered there instead of the closest port.
This method does not allow us to change any fluids, do after purchase inspection but you will still receive 15-25 HD photos of the car before it ships.
$1500 Auction to Our Yard Then to Port
This is the best option for in the winter and combines both others with more options.
With this option we can first have your new car delivered to our yard before going for shipping.
We can do things like:
- Change fluids for a cold voyage.
- Do full after purchase inspection and test drive.
- Take HD photos and videos of anything you would like to see.
- Custom projects at your request. In the past we have done things like: Manual swaps, body work, new parts and tires installed, left hand drive conversion, interior linings replaced etc. Feel free to make any request you’d like.
After everything has been completed we will have the car delivered to the fastest shipping port.
JDM Shipping Methods
Ro/Ro Shipping
RoRo is short for ‘Roll-on, Roll-off’, which describes how products are loaded and discharged from a vessel. Read on to learn more about RoRo.
Ro/Ro is a cost effective and very fast way of shipping a single vehicle. Your new car will be driven or rolled by experts onto a large ship and strapped down inside the ship alongside many other.
Once arriving at the destination port they are rolled or driven off and the customs process begins.
We understand the importance of comprehensive coverage for our customers. That’s why we automatically provide “Full Cover” transit insurance for all vehicles exported to Canada. This includes protection for Total Loss, Damage, Theft, Pilferage, and Non-Delivery. All vehicles on our website listed under the Canadian section include the cost of this insurance in the price, and for Purchase to Order customers, it is included in the quotes we provide. This ensures complete peace of mind during the import process.
Container Shipping
As of November 22, 2023 shipping your car/cars in a container to Canada does not have much benefit.
The pricing is still quite high and even when shipping multiple cars the price of shipping Ro/Ro is faster and cheaper.
We are still experts with container loading and have years of experience loading containers. We make sure the cars are protected with specialized rubber mats when lifting them with the forklift and we know exactly where to put the cables to ensure the car does not move or get damaged in transport. We can also stack cars.
We recommend only shipping you car/cars via container in certain cases like:
- Your vehicle is too low for Ro/Ro shipping.
- Your vehicle is too large for Ro/Ro shipping.
- You don’t want to add any KM’s or have someone driving/rolling the car.
- You want to also include parts and engines with your vehicle.
- You’re a boss and don’t want your new car with any normal folk.
How Long Does It Take To Import a JDM Car?
Once you’ve ordered the car in Japan it takes an average of 5-9 weeks for the car to arrive at a west coast port. Shipping from Japan is included in the total cleared customs price. Upon arrival it goes through customs, which takes about 5 business days, and is also included in the cleared customs price. When cleared, it is ready for pickup at the port or for further cross-country shipping which we can provide.
Please note: We can ship to east coast ports instead if preferred – make sure to indicate if that is your preference.
